The site on which the construction of this helipad is planned, falls in the south-west area of ​​the Municipality of Volterra, in the province of Pisa, near Piazza Ginori and in front of the building of the former railway station, adjacent to a large car park near the bus and tourist bus terminal serving the city. The interventions foreseen within the executive project for the new helicopter pad for the “Santa Maria Maddalena” Spedali Riuniti are listed below:

  • Pitch for take-off and landing of helicopters made with rigid flooring and relative horizontal markings;
  • Support work made of reinforced concrete with foundation on micropiles;
  • Aeronautical Ground Light system – Night flight system (AGL);
  • Fire-fighting system with foam monitors serving the helipad;
  • System for the collection and treatment of rainwater in service to the new paved surfaces;
  • Building for the technical rooms serving the helipad with a compartment to be used as an operations room;
  • Arrangement of the area around the take-off / landing pad;
  • Perimeter fence, safety net and access gates;
  • Relocation of public lighting.

The works were completed in 2016.
